A Very Old and eroded carved wooden mask with a well weathered surface. Bamana masks such as this one are worn and seen only by members of the Komo association, whose members harness the power (nyama) contained in the mask to aid members of the community.  This mask was acquired from noted Art dealer Al Gordon in Manhattan, New York in 1983.  The mask measures 35 inches long x 8.5 inches wide.
