A large carved wooden musical instrument with hollowed out body, incised and decorated rim and several strings. In Burundi, the Inanga was traditionally played for the mwamis of Burundi as they rested at night. The inanga was also played to cows, for it was thought that they loved the sound. This Inanga measures 36 x 13 inches. The instrument shows wear and handling suggesting years of field use.
