A carved wooden dance mask with alternate layers of kaolin pigment in red,white and black. The masks of the Lumbo and their neighbors in Gabon are used by dancers in performances during burial rites. The mask is intended to represent an idealized male or female ancestor.
This mask measures 12 x 7.5 inches. A metal display stand can also be included.
