A rare old carved wood and skin covered anthropomorphic janus dance crest with rattan basketry lower rim. The fierce and dramatic faces of the crest appear to be male and female as one side has an adams apple and both have inset wooden teeth and white wooden eyes ( one eye missing) The skin has a few stress cracks but what remains is stable. The crest measures 8.75 inches tall . 10.75 inches tall on custom display stand which is included. Ekoi peoples, Cross River region, Nigeria, West Africa.
